BMR's Festival of Colours is set for October 15th and 16th, and October 22nd and 23rd.
"Lumpy" is good to go - BC Safety Authority was here yesterday. A carpenter was working at the bottom of the Lump today - presumably preparing a loading area. Unlike a chair ride in the winter, you will load very slow, and there will be a full stop to unload up top.
If you are into a scenic walk - bring sturdy boots for the way down. Downloading will be an option on the chair, but that will be a slower process as the downhill load has to be well spaced out.
Go to the lodge first - free goodies from Big Al's Bakery. I stopped by the lodge today but didn't see anything set up in the office. I assume you would not be allowed to board the chair without having completed the industry standard liability waiver process, or being issued a day ticket.
Why not the Eagle? Do the math. 178 chairs divided by two - even if there were only 30 people lined up for a ride, that would be 15 almost or complete stops to load, and 15 full stops to unload at the top.
I think there will be a lot more people here than 30. Add that to the cold weather, and what would normally be about a 10 minute ride, and it doesn't add up.
The Eagle maintenance is basically done, with some extra work in progress so that little things don't become an issue with a 7 day a week operation.
