Last Night - "Blue Sap Moon" - tonight - Full Moon

March 30th, Blue Sap Moon photos from Marie Fletcher.

Dummy Downhill

Thank-you Marie Fletcher for photos.

Scary results for first responders...........

Dummy Downhill - before the race...........

Ordie and Bobby Speirs

That's Jean Claude "Ski-lly" in the back.

Barney - long time winner of this event.

Do you remember the dinosaurs from last year's cardboard box race? They are pirates this year.

Canadian Helicopters

Thank-you Canadian Helicopters for coming to Baldy. The list filled up quickly, but those who did get rides got a really good 12 minute tour.

Thank-you Marie Fletcher for the photos.

I had several people asking me today about Eric, from Eclipse Helicopters. Eric sold Eclipse some time ago, and the yellow/purple bird has new owners.

Live Music - direct from the Sunshine Coast

Live music in the bar after skiing today - musician is from Gibsons - skis Baldy while visiting family in Osoyoos. I met him at the Dummy Race......of course there is a connection. His father-in-law is the son of friends of my parents...........

So great to see that family enjoying their day together - the grandfather had a helicopter ride a few years ago - from SOGH to Kelowna, after his hockey buddies brought him back with an AED at the Oliver Arena.

BMSR

It's the attitude of the motorized deliberately on the ski trail that give the sport a bad name. Junction of Baldy Trail and Southridge Trail this afternoon.

Site of Saturday's "Beer Garden"

The Helicopter is Here

I won't be going up in the helicopter today - I shipped my DSLR off to Canon for repair. If you have photos you would like to share from your ride, I welcome submissions to  unbaldy@gmail.com

Al Haley photos.........

The groomer operators work while we sleep, and they see awesome sights in the morning.

Friday

Web Cam

You may not see a lot of people on the web cam, but what I see on the hill, is fewer regulars, and more new and out of town families, and lots of happy little kids!

Skiing in the Okanagan........

Yes, we have a ton of snow, and could be skiing for some time yet, but the reality is that once the weather turns in the valley, there aren't enough people heading for the mountains to justify being open.

We have four more days to enjoy - take advantage of the opportunity.

Apex closes one day after Baldy.

Big White and Silver Star close one week after Baldy. With all their development and on hill accommodation, it isn't worth it for them to stay open either.

Sun Peaks Development

Big money and improvements for Sun Peaks.

Ladies Day Wind-up and Photos from Marian

Hello Baldy Babes,
Our final Ladies Day for the 2017-18 season finished in a snowstorm. We hoped for a Baldy Blue day but it wasn't meant to be today. Our ride up the Eagle Chairlift was a bit chilly. The snow conditions were a perfect day, soft, fluffy & smooth snow. It was a bit slippery in places & you needed to set your snow shoe before taking the next step.
Champagne at Gruhl's Pool celebrating the fantastic Baldy Babes tasted pretty good.
Mary Doyle & Kathy Janzen received Baldy Mountain Resort shirts, bumper stickers & water bottles for perfect attendance. Four Baldy Babes wine glasses etched by Nixon were given to four lucky women by drawn names. A $50 gift certificate for Ceders Sewing Center was won by Marjo Koskinen.
Porchetta, roasted carrots, arugala salad with goat cheese & roasted eggplant & Chocolate Zuppa with Italian Creme Brulee for dessert, delicious!
Thank you to all the Baldy Mountain Resort staff!
Thank you to all the Baldy Babes!
See you in December.
Take Care, Marian
