Wildfire Technician James Katasonoff visited Baldy recently, and met with the community members who took the S100 training on the May long weekend.

Roles and procedures were reviewed. If a fire starts in the village, these trained individuals are required to call in to BCWS in order to be covered by BCWS insurance. The group are excluded from the high danger activities, but could be called upon during mop up and patrol stages of a fire.

One major change since I took the course in 2010. Clothing requirement is a special fabric, cotton is no longer approved.

We thank this group of volunteers for stepping up for training, and making arrangements among themselves that there will be a trained leader here at all times while the fire hazard remains high.
