Who goes out on hiking/snowshoeing trails and steals the gnomes? The "Stripper Pole" has been stripped as well. If the sign was changed to "The Pole", would someone continue to disrobe it?
Maybe someone is taking the sign in the wrong context. The reason it is called 'The Stripper Pole' is because by the time you hike to the top you start 'stripping' off some layers of clothes. Aka jackets, mitts, scarves, toques,,,, It is also a fun thing for hikers to add to. 'The Stripper Pole' is the most photographed spot on Baldy. Gotta love that. As for the missing gnomes, that is just sad.
