Hang on to your garbage if you can.............

Two owners contacted me with photos of 5 pickups that came up the hill and were unloading at the transfer station. They said they were Area "E", which technically can't be turned away, but Big White is Area "E" too.

When they arrived the bin was estimated to be half full, and the estimate of their loads was that the bin would be full, or over filled. 

I was on my way up McKinney when the photos were taken, and I did not meet the trucks headed down, so they likely came up the Baldy Road.

Our bin is usually changed on Tuesday, but I don't know if that will change this week because of the holiday.

Our Area E director has been notified as well as Environmental Services RDKB.

Older Black Dodge Truck

Apparently turned off the highway on to the Baldy Road a short time ago. Believed to be connected to theft at Red Apple Osoyoos. Was spotted earlier in the Westbridge area. Police vehicles were seen starting up the Baldy Road earlier this evening.

My computer is shut down for the night, and I am not good at lifting a photo from FB with my phone. If you look around Osoyoos FB groups, there is an image including the plate number.

My informant lives in the general area of Alden Road.

When I was 17..........

I had a summer job in the office of the Osoyoos Plant of Oliver Osoyoos Co-op. The highlight of my day was walking through the plant to collect paperwork. The receiver then was a kind and quiet man who efficently unloaded and loaded trucks, and issued receipts with the fruit weight. He was close to retirement then, and I was impressed at how easily he transitioned from the old hand written receipts to a computer. Eventually I had my own office at the plant - now the lake side of Boston Pizza in Osoyoos.

Later, I got to know his daughter and family when they bought a cabin up here. I was delighted last night to catch up with Carl unloading the van for a family Thanksgiving weekend. Those moments are rare now, as so many of the village cabins have changed hands.

Posts, Firewood, and Photos

I haven't posted much lately - I am here, but focusing on getting my firewood undercover. I finished the chainsaw work yesterday. I was later heading to town, and missed many opportunities for great fall colour photos. With a cooler, wetter forecast, I may not get another chance this fall.

Today is probably the peak of the deciduous colour - the larch are still pretty much green.
