Tree Fallers

I don't follow the Baldy Facebook pages. I am aware that there was an inquiry about tree fallers. Below is an excerpt from the information provided to property owners a year ago.

Andrew is not on this list, by his choice. He has a full time job and a family, and at most has one day a week to drop trees. He has repeat clients, and many jobs booked already.

Fortis will disconnect your power at no charge while trees are being taken down.

Choosing a Contractor:

Hire professionals to prune trees near power lines • Only trained professionals should trim trees around power lines. Untrained individuals have been seriously injured – and even killed, in some cases – when they attempted to do this work themselves. When having your trees trimmed or removed, you can arrange to have your power temporarily disconnected or wires temporarily removed by calling us at 1-866-436-7847. In most cases, there is no charge for this service.

Contact information has been provided for your convenience. It is your responsibility to choose your contractor, and verify their qualifications and insurance are current.

Are their workers insured?

Request a clearance letter from Worksafe that will tell you if the contractor is registered and up to date on payments. https://asmtclr.online.worksafebc.com/Default.aspx?_ga=2.6696370.1610048639.1654977519-262372972.1619472853

What insurance does the contractor carry, and do they have a certified Arborist?

Fortis has concerns about who falls trees that are within 2 tree lengths of any power lines. It is reasonable to ask your contractor to have their insurance company send you a certificate of insurance, and the contractor to send you a copy of an arborist certification.

Yes, insured, fully qualified and equipped contractors cost more, but an uninsured incident is way more expensive.

The following businesses have done work for property owners in the Village. Their contact information is provided for your convenience. It is your responsibility to contact them about any work you would like a quote on, and your responsibility to verify any services and insurance coverage. Neither the FireSmart Board or the Mount Baldy Strata Council take any responsibility for contractors or their work.

Kellerman Tree Services - Dale and Paul did some falling here last year

We had hoped to have the mechanical harvest by now, but with the closure of the Midway mill, and the drop in lumber prices, it has not gone ahead.

If you hire a contractor with a chipper - check with Brandan - BMR took chips last year.

Some of the fallers working here last weekend were qualified fallers working for family/friends.
