It looks like Phoenix has some opening days this month when Baldy is closed.
The lift ticket may be free, but be sure to spend some money in their cafeteria.
Last time I went, I took the Highway route to the Phoenix turnoff. I came back the shorter back road, only after checking with a local that it was plowed.
Either way, Greenwood is on the way home, and the Copper Eagle is well worth the stop if they are open. Best butter tarts ever!
