Never too old to ski..........

I complimented a skier the other day, thinking she was doing very well with a titanium knee. Turns out she also has two titanium hips as well. We talked about wanting to ski as long as we can, and I told her there was an 88 year old on the slopes that day.

I missed Jerry - I was a couple of chairs from the top when he skied down, and I didn't catch him! Jerry had some great runs with Mike. Many of Jerry's volunteer hours on the mountain over the years involved a chainsaw. "Forney's" was his project, and it had a blind entrance, so you had to know where it was. At a later time, it was opened up and a sign erected, so Jerry's secret stash was no more.

When Borderline Ski Club raised the funds to re-start the McKinney Tee in the early nineties, Jerry led the crew clearing the runs once again. He told me at the end of the day that they had left trees spaced on the "Kettle" so the kids had something to ski around.

Many of Mike's volunteer hours on the mountain involved ski racing. It has been strange the last few years to hear a voice other than Mike's at the start gate.

Thanks to Todd Weeks for capturing these young octogenarians skiing together. 88 year old in the lead, 86 year old following.
