• Ensure your smoke alarms are operational by testing them and replacing batteries
• Keep burning candles out of reach of any young children and/or animals
• Keep a watchful eye on items on the stove or in the oven, with a lid near by
• Request smokers go outside and provide them with an ashtray and water
• Make sure your tree is at least three feet away from any heat source
