Lift Evac Training with Primrose

Thanks to Sofia, Mitch and Primrose for the photos.

The chairlifts have back up gas engines. They are started up and tested regularly before the lifts open. Before a major power upgrade to Baldy, I was on the Eagle when a major power outage occurred. The back up motor ran the chair at a slower speed, but we all got to the top and safely unloaded.

Lift evacuation training is required every year. A well practiced procedure for an unlikely event.

Ski Patrol takes the lead, but many other staff are also included in the training. Primrose works in Food and Beverage, but it looks like she enjoyed the experience yesterday.

Rope is shot up over the cable, and a "seat" is raised to the person on the chair.

The passenger slides the seat between their legs, and pushes away from the chair as directed.

Prim is starting to enjoy the descent.

Ground crew being trained and assisted in assuring a slow, controlled descent.
