Proposed Changes to Heritage Conservation Act

Info forwarded from our Area E Director.

Hi,

Please take the time to review the technical paper on the heritage conservation act:

The province is proposing changes to this. It affects residents, local government, indigenous, and (industry) stakeholders.  I previously sent an email to the applicable policy analyst after consultation with museums in Area E and engagement with many community members. The province has since removed some of the language including “intangible” and “consent”, and I asked for a clear definition on the policy of Heritage management zones. There was a lot of pushback on the original proposal.

I’ll be attending an online meeting April 2 regarding the proposed changes. If you have any questions, concerns , or ideas, please contact me by email or give me a call. I would appreciate any feedback to convey to the province.

Kind Regards,

Sharen Gibbs,
