A member of our community posted on FB that she found a tick on herself. I have never encountered a tick up here, and was told a long time ago that they aren't at this elevation.
I recently read of a Kelowna fellow who found a live tick in his truck 5 days after being in the bush.
Various articles you can find online talk about ticks at higher elevations, and some suggest that climate change has helped them move up.
There is an eTick app you can download and report ticks with a photo.
Here is an excerpt of a map from the BCCDC on high risk areas for ticks.
I had a tick embedded in the back of my head a few years ago. I waited 4 hours at the ER. The Doc who finally removed it popped it into a pill bottle to examine and make sure he had removed it all.
I am aware of at least one lime disease case at a lower elevation in this region.
