Talk to your neighbours.............

I am still looking for more details on the FireSmart event, but I encourage you to talk to your neighbours, invite your new neighbours, and show up June 27th for the Community FireSmart Event.

Getting funding for these events is contingent on a number of things, including participation.

Sign up for a free FireSmart assessment, get the latest info on rebates. I assume there will be FireSmart swag, have a burger and a beverage, and get to know folks.

Keeping our homes and ski hill safe from fire requires full participation. Embers can spot a long way ahead of the main fire. An ember landing on dry combustibles can ignite and spread quickly. An ember landing on a FireSmart property is manageable.

The fire in West Kelowna this week is a reminder that we should all have a grab and go bag ready, and a photo/video inventory of your mountain home is also a good idea.
