We’d like to provide an update of our deployment team that was sent out last week to provide structural protection in the Clinton area. As many have heard the village of Clinton was surrounded by fire last night as noted by the BCWF press release,
“Yesterday, July 24 this fire exhibited extreme fire behaviour reported as Rank 5, which is described as an organized flame front with independent spot fire growth. The fire did cross over Kelly Lakes Road and was pushed north up the hillside. The fire grew on both the west and east sides of the Village of Clinton within the interface area. Structure protection personnel and BC Wildfire Service crews worked overnight in the Village of Clinton.”
We are proud to say that our crew was one of many structural protection teams that worked through the night to defend Clinton. Speaking with our team leader this morning, he has informed us that all our members are safe and back on the line today. It’s for events like this when the extra time and money put into our training and equipment truly pays off. It’s often said that “luck is the residue of hard training”…we wish our crew continued “good luck”. Here at home, the OFD continues to be well staffed and ready to respond to local emergency events.
