Our thoughts are with Ron, Mike and their families, and dear
friends Wally and Mary Anne Day.
Jay, dear friend, I’d like to think of you reunited with
your Mom and Dad, and perhaps sipping an Appletons and catching up. Maybe beyond
this earth, your legs will allow you to run like the wind. You proved the
Doctors wrong, lived a good life, accomplished so much, and never complained about
the challenges you faced. A true gentleman, always looking on the bright side.
Lots of happy memories at Baldy, Big White, at the lake and
aboard “Summer Wine.”
Jay you were loved so much, and enriched the lives of everyone
who knew you.
Ozannes started coming to Baldy in 1969, bunking in with the
Days in the lodge basement. Later they built a cabin on Ore-House. Jay was
Baldy’s first adaptive skier, with a ski bike. He water skied on a disc, knee boarded,
and snow shoed to the top to the Baldy Tee. If you skied Baldy in the late 80’s
or early 90’s, you probably purchased a lift ticket from Jay.
The Baldy Blue Jays adaptive program was named in honour of Jay – before phones, we had CB radios, and Jay’s handle was Blue Jay.
Jay passed peacefully in hospital with Ron and Mike at his side.
We’ll all miss him, but take comfort that he is in a better
place.
I’ll post again when the obituary is published with a
condolence link.

We knew Jay since he was a baby. He was an inspiration for all of the kids in our neighbourhood. To see where he started and all that he accomplished over his life is just amazing.
One of my most inspirational memories of Jay was when Ron and I pushed, pulled and shoved Jay up to the top of the Squamish Chief. Jay was going to get it done and he did just like so many other challenges that he overcame in his life.
All of our love from the Rowans
