Non-profit Association and Eligibility for Grants

Outgoing RDKB Director Vicki Gee has suggested that we form a non-profit society. There are grants available that our community could apply for, that would help with many things including FireSmart.

Please read the following information, and contact Hilary if you are interested in meeting to further this idea. Membership would include all property owners, not just strata members.

To All Mount Baldy Community Members

As you are likely aware the FireSmart Board has been working over the past year to mitigate our communities fire risk.  We would like to thank all community members for all your efforts over the past year to make our community more fire resilient!

On the recommendation of Vicki Gee, outgoing RDKB Electoral Area Director we are initiating exploring the creation of a non-profit Community Association for Mt Baldy. The motivation for creating an Association is in order to be eligible for grants and other funding that may be available to non-profit groups. The purpose of the Association would be to support initiatives for the overall benefit of the community

A community association can have many different areas of focus, and can provide funding for the establishment of a non-profit society.  Activities that could be looked into include trail building and maintenance, FireSmart activities, etc.  We look forward to understanding what our communities needs and priorities are and how we can all work together to make it a better place to live, work and play.

As we investigate this opportunity, we would like to hear from community members who are interested in becoming involved in this venture.

If you are interested in learning more about this initiative, or want to express interest in becoming involved please email Hilary Drummond at  hilary@hilarydrummond.com .  Once interested parties have been identified we will set up a meeting in early January to discuss next steps.
