The Challenges, and the update

Thanks Brandan for a detailed update.

⚠️IMPORTANT SAFETY UPDATE⚠️
Over the past week we have faced significant weather challenges. We have seen the accumulation of heavy rime ice and snow build up on our lifts and especially the trees surrounding our lovely resort.
On Sunday January 8th, several mature trees had fallen from the weight of accumulated snow, landing on several critical power lines causing a resort and village wide power outage. This was unexpected and not a normal weather pattern for our ski hill.
While Fortis BC had restored power to the village and lodge, the voltage wasn't high enough to power our lifts on Monday January 9th.
Thursday January 12th, we saw a power surge from yet even more fallen trees on power lines.
While this didn't immediately close the lifts, the surge had caused a critical part of Eagle chair to break, and temporarily halted Surgarlump chairs operation for the rest of the day.
The following day, a staff member drove all the way to Vancouver and back to grab the replacement part, hopefully making Eagle ready for operation tomorrow, Sunday the 14th, however, we may be delayed until Monday the 15th.
These issues have come from the unpredictable weather patterns and have given most ski resorts some challenges these last few weeks.
Trees all over the resort continue to fall on our runs and around the village, Fortis is continuing to monitor village powerlines and Ski patrol are out clearing trees on ski runs to make our lifts and runs as safe as possible for you.
Unfortunately until it warms up, falling trees will continue to be a challenge.
The team here at Baldy Mountain Resort are just as bummed as you are that we cannot provide the best experience we know we are capable of.
As we work through these unseasonable weather patterns we also deal with a very unstable snow pack. As we look to open Eagle in the coming day, we will be out assessing the snow pack of the north side. Please stay off these runs as we perform important work that both protects our workers and guests.
We want to thank all of our guests and season passholders for their support over the holidays making the best December Baldy has seen in years, and your continued patience as we work tirelessly to get everything back up and running.
