Unusual note on Forecast

Environment Canada added a special note from the forecaster - From 11:00 am Thursday to 5:00pm Friday, gusty winds are forecast as the high pressure ridge breaks down. They advise following BC Wildfire for info as those winds could increase wildfire behavior, and/or quickly accelerate growth on new fire starts.

We did exceed 30C on the mountain yesterday afternoon. One resident who braved the trip to town reported 41C on the vehicle thermometer in Oliver, and 40C on the sage flats on McKinney Road.

In 2021 we learned that we can be vulnerable when a fire starts down in the valley under hot, dry conditions.

We've had two days at  a fire danger rating of "4" or high. The rating is usually updated around 2:00pm.
