Trees down on the road earlier today...........
Last night's wind gusts took a few trees down, some affecting the road. Did you encounter one and wish you had a chainsaw in the back?

14? Years, and still learning
I've been writing this blog for a long time, and had something happen this morning for the first time.
The layout and formatting went way out of whack, but the editing page said everything was in the right place. Instead of googling what to do, I messed around too long.........
Turns out there was corrupt code in one post that I had taken from another site - it caused the problem, and once I started deleting new posts, it righted itself. While I was messing around with it, I had to load an old template, and I haven't found all of the missing features. I will get the October weather fixed, but if you notice a link that you use is missing, please let me know.
Enter for draw for next year's season's pass..........
Even ski instructors take lessons. In my years as a CSIA Level II instructor, I took countless lessons and professional development clinics. Back in the day, one could afford travel for those programs including Whistler, Blackcomb, Kimberly, Lake Louise, Marmot, Sunshine Village, Big White.................as well as ProD clinics here.

If the weather guessers are right...........
Might as well come up Wednesday night, and not plan on going home for a few days. ;)

Monday Shoe
Hello Baldy Babes,
A crisp, clear,
sunny morning for our shoe to Gruhl's Pool. Cheryl led us through the Frisbee
Golf Course "climbing up the hill, climbing up the hill" to the
pool.
A hot bowl of
Tomato Basil soup warmed the toes followed by a bacon chicken sandwich with
fries.
Singing
"Happy Birthday" to Chloe completed our day.
If weather
permits, we will ride the Eagle chairlift next week to the Baldy Babes Trail
stopping at the Hut before returning to the Lodge for lunch. Cost is $10 for
the ride up Eagle.
Looking forward to
seeing your smiling faces next week.
Take Care,
Marian
Why I don't mind one bit when our lift operators slow the lift for load and unload in tricky situations

Hello Baldy Babes,

Rest In Peace, Isobel MacLaurin
Our thoughts are with Lee Mounsey and all the family on the passing of Lee's Mom. Isobel was a legend at Whistler, and her claim to fame at Baldy, was that she was Lee's Mom.
There is a live link in the above article for anyone who wishes to watch the memorial tonight at 6:00pm.

Wine Maker's Cup - 16th Annual
If you didn't catch some of the sights and sounds of the Winemaker's Cup this morning, you can google it, and find some fun videos of events past.
The weekend is planned for getting the wine industry folks together for some fun and good times. It starts with some get togethers Friday night, the race and BBQ here on Saturday, and a banquet and awards in town Saturday night.
The wine industry is facing a big hit with the severe cold temperatures earlier this winter. 2024 crop losses and vine damage.
Great to see the participants out enjoying today.

Friday
It was sunny up top to start the day, and eventually sunny all around. Great skiing on the groomers.
Sessions Outdoor Sports Inc. Osoyoos
Sessions Outdoor Sports Inc.
Since the Van Os family ski shop closed in Penticton, most of us have relied on Kelowna businesses for our ski gear purchases, and some repairs.
BMR has on mountain
repairs available during the operating season at Baldy. We now have a local
sports store that sells and repairs skis and snowboards.
In the mid-seventies, I bought my Rossi Strato 102’s from my Uncle at
Osoyoos Hardware and Lumber, just before he was ready to close the ski shop
part of the business.
We have Josh in Penticton, and Ricardo in Vernon, but now we
have Sessions in Osoyoos for bikes.
Sessions is a home-grown, locally
owned and operated sports store,
created by
outdoor enthusiasts for other outdoor enthusiasts.
I have yet to visit the store, but the website and their
Facebook presence show enthusiasm and an ambitious range of products and
services available locally.
Worth checking them out.

Thinking about Thursday?
I measured 10cms new in the village Tuesday morning, and another 3 this morning. That will be untouched in the alpine.

"Baldy Babes" on Family Day
Hello Baldy Babes,
Happy B.C. Family
Day! Our Baldy Babes snowshoe celebrated the holiday with a shoe to the
famous Stripper Pole and our Thank You tree. Meeting at noon and getting back
to the Lodge later allowed the staff some breathing room after a very busy
weekend.
As I write this
email, it's been snowing since 3:30, almost an inch already on our measuring
stick.
A reminder about
the Baldy Babes Sunday night dinner, email me if you plan on attending by
Wednesday morning at 10. I have twelve reservations so far as of today.
Looking forward to
seeing your smiling faces next week.
Take Care, Marian
