I have large volumes of photos on file, but I am going to need some help with fresh photos for the next 6 weeks or more. Snow boots with ice spikes aren't invincible. When one boot slips and the other doesn't .......
My latest footwear on my right foot is not my custom fitted ski boot...........
Not sure when I will resume the regular weather reports - I am finding the Tower 3 temperatures pretty close to my thermometer, and the BMR Facebook snow fall amounts are pretty close to mine.
If you have photos to share, I would be happy to post them - if there are people in them, please confirm with the subjects that they are OK with a blog posting. unbaldy@gmail.com
Thanks

Hi Sam,
I hope you are feeling better and recover soon from that mishap!
I wrote the following to BMR on their website tonight. Chris Stodola and I had a rather unpleasant time at the hill yesterday due to the actions of one BMR employee. You know me, I tell it like it is/was and don't normally complain without giving constructive suggestions. Have you seen or heard of anything like this at Baldy this year?:
I have skied at Baldy since 1980. We raised our 4 boys skiing there, I was a ski patrol volunteer & snow host, as well as a part-time employee in the rental, ski school and maintenance departments. 3 of my sons worked at Baldy in various capacities for many years. Our family has supported Baldy and for the most part, loved our experiences there.
Unfortunately, the actions of a "liftee" (not professional or competent enough to be termed a "certified lift operator"!) on Wednesday, Feb 7 before noon and then again afternoon were upsetting and dangerous. Enough so that I hesitate to purchase passes for my 6 grandchildren and their 6 parents on Family Day weekend next week. This person (no name tag!) was stationed at the top of the Sugar Lump Chair in the morning. The employee was horsing around with people dismounting the chair. He threw a snowball which struck my ski partner who is 73 years old and has skied first at Borderline then Baldy for 60+ years.
The snowball was thrown purposely and without warning just as we were readying to dismount. There was no apology, but we dismissed that thinking he may have mistaken us for someone he knew (we should have said something then!). Later on in the afternoon when he was stationed at the bottom of the lift, he was joking around with the SD 51 children from West Boundary Elementary, using the "F word" repeatedly and again throwing snowballs at the kids in the line up. He even stuffed snow down the coat of a student just as they were getting on the chair. This almost resulted in that person falling over.
I suggest that the "liftee" is not suitable for the position: he does not act safely, is rude and incompetent. I have a season's pass, otherwise I would likely NOT ski at Baldy again this year. My ski partner has one day left on his flex pass, but I don't believe he will be happy visiting Baldy again this season. BMR management should seriously consider whether that employee is helping or hurting their business and take appropriate action to either terminate, relocate or re-educate him to be more professional, responsible and put safety ahead of fooling around.
Please note that I normally do not complain about anything, but I believe that the viability of our ski hill is more important than this "liftee's" employment.
