Almost 2 weeks away, and I could have happily stayed away longer...........

It was a "people" trip, and I covered a lot of ground in the process. The first event was a family wedding at Whonnock Lake. A special event, and like most weddings, there was the unexpected. The outdoor ceremony was proceeding smoothly until the automatic sprinklers turned on.

I hope I have convinced the bride and groom to come back to Baldy. Their last visit was during a season I would like to forget. I have told the family lots of positive things about the current management team. The mother of the bride thinks she may be too old to ski now, but she is 4 years younger than I am. If the bro will put his skis on, we could recreate the fun from long ago. They would love the groomers.

BC Ferries super saver rates for over height and over length made an Island trip affordable. Yes I did get up very early.

The visits in Victoria, Duncan and Courtenay involved 3 school day connections, and the others have all had cabins at Baldy or stayed at mine.

Special thanks to Frank and Lynn for their generous hospitality in Victoria. I have almost 100 photos from Butchart Gardens.

A lovely day in Courtenay with Cheryl and Ernie - beach time, meals, and a drive up to Mount Washington. We agreed that I would not post a people photo from Mt. Washington, as Baldy is our mountain.

I went to Mt. Washington many years ago - when the access road was dirt, and pretty rough.

The variety of vegetation on the Island, with "broom" in full bloom on both sides of the Island Highway triggered a respiratory response, and I left my voice somewhere between Courtenay and Campbell River. I gave up trying to see all of my second cousins in Campbell River.

Two campgrounds for resting were challenging with wood and pot smoke.

The cabin was warm when I got home last night, and I slept with a lot of windows open. Ugghh, the truck is covered in pollen today.

I can't talk, but otherwise I am fine.

Thanks to Steve at OK Tire in Oliver for the pre trip bearing stuff and brake check on the trailer for a trouble free trip.
