Great Work, Baldy Team

I was hesitant this morning, but I am glad I went out. The skiing was great, and additional terrain was opened up this afternoon. Nice to see Mark W. on the hill, and lots of little ones. The toughest part for me was walking from the truck to the ski area. My top speed was almost 60km/hr, so not much hesitation on the slopes.

Revised Operations and end date. Thanks to Mother Nature's Tears

🚨 END OF SEASON UPDATE 🚨
Well mother nature did not provide us any relief over the last couple of days. We have made the difficult decision to suspend operations on Eagle for the remainder of the season. We will continue to operate Sugarlump 7 days a week.
❄️
Moving forward we plan on patching up Sugarlump and holding up the terrain the best we can until March 29th which is now our new end of season date. We have had a stellar season and outdoor operations have done an amazing job all season long providing us with the amazing groomed runs, some of the best the valley has seen.
🏔️
We have also now ended night skiing and tubing for the rest of the season.
🌄
Slushcup is still planned and will be moved up to March 29th and we will provide an amazing send off weekend packed full of events. All retail is 25% off with select items at 50% off. One chair ticket pricing will apply for the rest of the season.
🙏
Again these are tough decisions and we have enjoyed having each and every one of you up this season and will look forward to the last few days ahead, and an amazing start to next season. Frozen rate season passes will hit our webstore for 2 weeks on April 20th.

Update

At the moment it appears that mother nature has stopped spitting at us. My FB feed has been full of updates from ski areas all over North America and beyond, not as fortunate as we have been. The BMR ops team has adapted to challenges, and given us consistent groomers. We would have liked them to have more snow to work with, but they have done an amazing job.

I have chosen not to post some of the images from other mountains, incase someone glancing at the blog thinks they are from here.

Cooling trend forecast to start Saturday, with new snow on Tuesday.

Thanks for the ride

I had planned to ski home, but the groomer had not been from Beaver Trail around and down Jolly Jack. Thanks to my friends (and neighbours) for the ride home. I prefer not to drive down on Sugar Days.

Monday

Hello Baldy Babes,

Fresh powder today for our snowshoe through the forest. Snowshoe Hare tracks were everywhere this morning but we didn't see them.

A delicious Baldy Burger, fries, celery soup and chocolate brownie bites for lunch hit the spot.I was hungry! (see photos)

Primrose takes such good care of us, Happy Birthday!

Thank you Baldy Babes for the Pappa's Firehall Bistro gift cards and $5 gas money!

Looking forward to seeing your smiling faces next week.

Take Care, Marian

Bracelayer, Thank-you Al Barnes

I happened to be out on my deck a couple of weeks ago when Al was walking by. He told me about bracelayer, and the endorsement from a cabin full of physiotherapists.

I ordered a pair, wore them in the cabin for a bit, and today I put them to the test on the hill. Too many folks on the hill that I wanted to see, and not happy after a month of not skiing.

Bracelayer supports the knees and apparently helps with retraining the alignment of the leg. One theory being that whatever I have done to compensate for the original problem has contributed to additional pain.

I am happy with my four runs today. Tolerable pain at the original site, but none of the extreme pain I had been dealing with in certain positions.

Happy to connect with this North Van family. First time meeting the kids, and an easy bond when I told them I know their Grandma.

I didn't get a photo, but the family living behind me are all snowboarding now. I couldn't catch 3 of the kids, but was intrigued watching the four year old boy. He was very tired, and ready to go home, but his stance and balance were excellent, and he has mastered technique and subtle foot movements that far exceed what I usually see in beginner snowboarders.

End of Season update

It’s no secret that it has been a challenging snow year, and with warmer temperatures on the horizon, we must play the cards that mother nature has dealt us.

As for the last few weeks up until April 19th, they’re now a bit up in the air. We will have an update closer to the end of March.

Thanks to the BMR team for delivering on quality skiing without a lot of help from mother nature. Our friends down the road at Phoenix are struggling, and Big White just announced that they have now opened all of their runs for the first time this season.
